Christmas Fashion Trends
January is a transitional time for fashion as the temperatures are still cold, so when styling on annual Signature Event, presented in Madrid, we focused on the styles that you can wear now and well into next year.
Blazer Mania Continues
The blazer was exalted to hero status in 2019 and will continue to reign the style kingdom well into 2020. You won’t just be wearing it with matching pants to work, you will pair it with everything. It has a versatility unlike any other piece…desk-to-dinner, work-to-weekend, uptown-to-downtown. For our fashion show, we went head-to-toe in JOSEPH separates, but took it out of the boardroom with a turtleneck and sneaker combination that is 100% street style approved and then when evening-chic in velvet separates from Fay.
365 Days Of Leather
Leather, leather and more leather! You won’t be able to get enough of this trend even well into the warmer months. Leather replaces traditional woven fabrics as the base for your every fashionista-approved #OOTD. While leather will come in many shapes in forms in 2020, right now we love the leather skirt. Whether ‘cool-girl’ with Fall’s must-have chunky boots like this look from Courreges or ‘uptown-sophisticate’ like this look from Isabel Marant, this is the piece to invest in now.
The Tropics Reinvented
Prints and patterns are always a Spring style staple, but 2020 brings us a new twist…less girly-girl, more island tropics with a modern twist. These aren’t the tropical prints that make you think of a Hawaiian shirt…while still bold, they are reinvented in unexpected palettes and then transformed into of-the-moment silhouettes like this chic look from Oscar de la Renta. There are some designers who won’t ever veer away from their view of pattern, like the always sough-after Missoni and their iconic zig-zag, but they still are influenced by a tropical palette inspired by rich greenery and bright floral hues.
Arts & Crafts
One of the most interesting trends to emerge from the SS20 runways involves a new way of creating the pieces we so desire. From lace insets, to placed pattern and unique ways of draping Spring 20’s works of art an equal parts imagination and craft. The wear-now versions of this trend come from some of our favorite brands like Etro and Temperley London. Already masters at creating the unique, both brands give us a modern take on some of their iconic ideas. Etro reinvents the paisley pattern once again with lace overlay and Temperley London rethinks the party dress with embellished, tulle inserts…arts and crafts never looked so chic.
