In these uncertain times, we want to say thank you to the artisans<\/strong> who are not only the backbone of so many design houses<\/strong> (think Couture<\/strong>), but who are now on our front lines producing masks<\/strong> for the world. As the global fashion industry<\/strong> has shifted its focus towards supporting the needs of healthcare workers<\/strong> and individuals in every community, we think it is important to remind ourselves that the fashion industry has always been supported by these unsung heroes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In order to do so, we want to share the story on one brand and their heritage in artisanship\u2026Heimat Atlantica<\/strong>. A modern brand for sure, founded in 2016 by Montserrat \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>, but also one who has embraced the old-school techniques that are such a part of fashion\u2019s history. The brand employs \u2018craftspeople<\/strong>\u2019 from the Atlantic coasts<\/strong> of Spain<\/strong> and Portugal<\/strong> who \u2018handweave<\/strong>\u2019 and hand-embroider<\/strong> their products.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The brand works with interesting artists<\/strong> such as the \u2018colareiras<\/strong>\u2019, shell-necklace makers<\/strong> who physically gather the shells<\/strong> on the beach<\/strong> that become hand-embroidered works of art.
